1. Who We Are

Crochet League, operated by JThouse, is the controller of the personal data processed through crochetleague.jthouse.net (the "Service"). For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@jthouse.net.

2. Data We Collect

Account data: email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google account ID and basic profile information provided by Google.
Profile data: avatar image and other details you add to your profile.
Content you create: photos submitted to challenges, comments, and chat messages.
Activity data: challenge participation, points, and leaderboard standings.
Technical data: session identifiers (cookies), and your IP address, which is recorded when subscribing to our email list.

3. How We Use Your Data

To create and manage your account and authenticate you (including via Google sign-in);
To run challenges, display submissions, compute the leaderboard, and award prizes;
To send service notifications and, if subscribed, email updates;
To moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service;
To maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

4. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following providers, only as needed to operate the Service:

Google - authentication when you choose "Sign in with Google" (subject to Google's Privacy Policy);
Esputnik - email subscription management;
Resend - delivery of transactional emails (e.g., notifications);
Klipy - GIF search used in community chat.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Cookies

We use only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a CSRF token cookie for security. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.

6. Public Visibility

Your display name, avatar, challenge submissions, comments, and leaderboard position are visible to other users and visitors of the Service. Please do not include sensitive personal information in public content.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page - this removes your profile, submissions (including uploaded photos), avatar, and notifications. Security and activity logs may be retained for a limited period to protect the Service and investigate abuse.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@jthouse.net.

9. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage on the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date above.
